Speaking with CoinDesk, organizer Alex Palantzas said that the event was the largest and most successful events for the Bitcoin Center, adding: “The turnout is pretty overwhelming.”
Although smaller than the recent bitcoin job fair in Sunnyvale, CA, the New York event does hint at a rapidly growing interest in all things bitcoin in New York, and to a lesser degree, the East Coast in general. The California event, held in the epicenter of most bitcoin investment, Silicon Valley, saw over 400 job-seekers and nearly three dozen companies.
The New York fair was also interesting because of the kinds of jobs being recruited for. While coding, design and system management were the focus of the Sunnyvale event, the New York version saw a much larger need for sales and marketing professionals, as well as those with finance and business development experience. This could be a meaningful indication that the bitcoin industry is rapidly moving towards a business and consumer-level push.
